CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Beginners & Beyond
A class for new students and practitioners who would like to develop a solid base, mixed level practitioners of other methods and experienced Iyengar yoga practitioners who would like to strengthen their foundation.

Sutra Study
Explore the relationship between the practice and the ‘big questions’ about yoga, spirituality and the human condition. Philosophy text: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Tractions & Openings
Special sequences for flexibility, strength and endurance that realign the body and wake up stiff, weak and sore areas intelligently. Rebalance the natural harmony of the body, creating ease and vitality. This innovative practice is designed to bring significant progress in a short period of time.

Yoga for Healthy Aging
For mature, active adults who want to work on foundation and alignment for balance, flexibility and strength. Build stamina and support your joints through slow movement. A practice to help you age gracefully and deal with common health issues and stress.

Strength & Core
Power up your practice the Iyengar way. Promote muscular strength, core stability and healthy abdominal organs. Vibrant practice working skillfully.

Gentle Level 1
Take time to stretch, stabilize and balance. Basic postures are taken to restore and invigorate the body and mind. This class is designed for beginners and those who require foundational work with support.

Deep Recuperation & Breath Work
Relax deeply and remove stress and fatigue through supported postures taken using props to help the student stay in them comfortably. Cultivate calm, ease and clarity by opening the body and releasing psychological tension. Pranayama (breath work) is the practice of controlling or conditioning the breath. It is a centering, inward practice that goes into the meditative sphere. Pranayama consists of techniques designed to gain awareness of the respiratory process while recognizing the connection between the breath, the mind and emotions. It is also the bridge between postures and meditation.
